CUBAN ART FROM THE PEREZ COLLECTION

ON THE HORIZON: CONTEMPORARY CUBAN ART FROM THE JORGE M. PÉREZ COLLECTION

Inside the museum, explore the first “chapter” of the exhibition, featuring works by artists Antonia Wright, José Bedia, Juan Carlos Alom and Sandra Ramos. Each telling a profound story in each piece. Having the artists attend was more than a treat but gave more meaning to the overall tour. Having the personal interaction and asking the many questions that came to mind connected each viewer to the art directly. During this memorable time, press and all other forms of media were advised not to use flash, making it difficult for most, but TAMZ took more of an artistic approach. Capturing what others don’t by utilizing the surrounding lights, TAMZ implemented various camera techniques.

After such a memorable event Jorge asked us to print some of his favorite images we captured and design a book for his collection.

We have done a project for Perez before when we traveled to Cuba with him to join Obama as he made history. The first sitting US president to visit the Communist ruled island since Calvin Coolidge did in 1928. “My lifetime has spanned a time of isolation between us,” Obama said. “I have come here to bury the last remnant of the Cold War in the Americas.” Fast forward to 2017, we now have Perez flying in his Cuban artist that are showcased in his museum at PAMM. This also was a special time for Perez and TAMZ was there to capture the timeless moments of his ON THE HORIZON event. Check out the images that touched Jorge Perez in a featured 10×10 fine art coffee table book by TAMZ. Only three copies ever made.
